Prescription: Partnerships & Collaborations

 “Connecting SMEs and Corporate Buyers: differentiating through innovation” - In our role as national Network Integrator, Digital Health & Care we set out to help small businesses tackle the recognised challenges of trying to sell to large public sector buyers.  As part of this support we created a network of relationships by engaging with private sector (200+ Scottish SMEs) and civic stakeholders (the national Enterprise Agencies, Digital Health & Care Institute, Scottish Centre for Telehealth and Telecare and various NHS Boards) sectors to identify and qualify high impact innovation opportunities for Scottish companies.
We used this engagement activity as a two-way communication channel to;

  • raise awareness and interest amongst the SME community of the emerging market and business opportunities in this sector
  • gather market and company intelligence from SMEs about capability and ambition, and to identify potential applications for product and services within the health and care sector; and
  • disseminate information to SMEs about potential and upcoming civic innovation opportunities

In addition to building and managing the National database on DH&C capability this information was used and disseminated across all the key stakeholders / buyers.  We coupled our knowledge network of contacts in the high-growth SME sector with relationships into corporate/”Tier 1” suppliers to the public corporate sector to match specialist digital products with sales opportunities via multi-year, national-scale supply contracts.

We also as part of community building efforts ran a number of exciting and very popular business and buyer type events.
